I am so over stuff accumulating on the ensuite vanity!!
Yes, I have a bad back and avoid bending to search in bottom cupboards if I can possibly avoid it, but I can’t stand the constant mess/clutter that results from not ‘putting away’!
I initially thought I could use some glass shelves but they were all too long and wide for the space and too expensive so I had to think ‘outside the box’.
I gathered PJ and ventured out to Bunnings for a look-see and after quite a bit of searching , I came across photo shelves – they were glossy white (easy to clean), a nice width for a confined space and we would be able to cut them to fit!
PJ measured up, cut them off and painted the cut end white and then it was simply a matter of drilling a couple of holes and ta-da our new bathroom shelves!!
and my nice clean, clear vanity!
I do have one glass shelf that you can see in the photo – it is a corner shelf for my Maiden Hair – I can’t wait for it to grow and hang down!
Does clutter drive you crazy or is it just me?
Until next time
Nanny xx
Yes clutter drives me nuts, but with three young boys I’m a long way off from having a tidy bathroom 🙂 I’ve got a few photo shelves through my house too – they’re such a handy size.
Hi Debra! Yes they are a great size and to be honest, I never knew they existed, but they are perfect! 🙂
Good idea. Ours is covered in stuff. I hate clutter yet I’m guilty of it lol Working at it!
Thanks harmony – don’t be hard on yourself – afterall I’m Nanny and I’m just getting it sorted!!! 🙂
Nanny I love the shelves! I have a small bathroom and it has a small vanity. I’m like you with the bad back and I have hip problems so bending and stooping are out for me. And I too hate clutter on my sink. I want to build some shelves like yours. Could you tell me the width and length of them? Also what pieces of wood did you use? Oh and how did you hang them? I don’t see any brackets on the ends. Thank you much Nanny. God Bless and have a wonderful, blessed day!
Thank you Glenda – I am glad you like them. We didn’t build them but bought them from Bunnings (not sure if you are in Australia but Bunnings is a Hardware store) They are 600mm long and we cut the end off to suit. They are 100mm wide overall, but the actual shelf space is 75mm. The brackets are included and are ‘invisible’ as they are behind the shelf. They are called Photo Shelves – they have a small ledge to stop your photo slipping off, and that also made them perfect for our use. I hope this info helps you – please ask if I can help further. 🙂
Clutter drives me crazy, but I still have lots of it. Your new shelves look GREAT, Margie. Well done on cutting down on your clutter.
Thanks Pam! Now to the Craft Room! lol
